Focus: Academics/Beginning of the Year
Students will focus on the importance of listening and following directions. Students reviewed the 4 basic skills to listening:
1. STOP what you are doing
2. LOOK at the person talking
3. LISTEN to what the person is saying (which includes being quiet so you can hear)
4. THINK about what the person said, and then what you must do next
Focus: Careers
Students will explore various types of jobs or careers. Students will be introduced to their grade level's career clusters (see career cluster tab for specific clusters covered in each grade).
Focus: Personal Safety
Using age-appropriate language and curriculum, we discuss different types of abuse as well as personal boundaries, rights, and privacy needs. Students will identify trusted adults they can talk to if they are in need of help.
